The Contemporary Art Asia Membership programme is designed to support Asian contemporary artists working in the UK by building a high quality, sustainable professional platform with an international outlook. We believe that contemporary art is not only about the presentation of works, but about ideas and human values that continue to unfold and deepen through real social engagement.
CAA Membership is not an open or scale driven community. It is a curated artistic network that prioritises quality, discernment, and long term development. The platform values the seriousness of artistic practice, as well as the genuine connections formed between artists, and between art and society.
CAA has long been committed to advancing the presence and dialogue of Asian contemporary art within an international context. Through curated exhibitions, monthly art salons, and cross cultural exchange programmes, we create a professional environment that combines intellectual depth with real connective potential. Joining CAA Membership means entering a community structured around artistic practice, meaningful exchange, and sustained growth, where artists can develop their own trajectories through continuous practice and interaction.
CAA hosts a members only art salon in London every month as a core part of its long term platform operation. Held at a consistent frequency and structured with clarity, the salon provides a stable offline space in which artists, curators, and cultural practitioners can engage in ongoing dialogue.
Events are typically hosted in carefully selected cultural venues or private clubs, maintaining an atmosphere that is discreet, considered, and of high aesthetic quality. Each salon includes elements such as themed presentations, moderated conversations, and open social exchange. However, the focus is not on any single event, but on building an artistic community grounded in trust and professional knowledge through sustained participation.
The Feature Artist programme is a key presentation mechanism developed by CAA specifically for its artist members. Each edition of the art salon centres on one Feature Artist, whose work and practice are curated and presented by the CAA team.
Selected artists are given a comprehensive professional platform to articulate their practice, including a structured introduction to their artistic trajectory, in depth discussion of representative works, and conversations around their conceptual framework. These sessions are recorded and disseminated through the CAA website and official channels, forming professional content assets that can be referenced and revisited over time.
The programme is designed to help artists establish a clear, legible, and intellectually grounded profile within an international context, rather than offering short term or purely promotional exposure.
CAA regularly curates and produces contemporary art exhibitions across the UK and Europe, with venues ranging from professional galleries and cultural institutions to internationally recognised exhibition spaces. As members of CAA, artists are eligible to apply for participation in these international exhibition projects and to enter CAA’s long term curatorial planning framework.
All exhibitions are independently curated and selected by the CAA team. Participating works are placed within a clearly articulated curatorial context, rather than presented as isolated or loosely assembled pieces. Emphasis is placed on conceptual relationships between works and the coherence of the overall presentation, ensuring academic integrity and public relevance.
Through participation in CAA’s international exhibitions, artists are able not only to present their work within overseas art contexts, but also to gain visibility among curators, art media, and collector communities. CAA aims to support artists in building a stable and credible international profile through sustained exhibition practice, rather than relying on one off presentations or short term visibility.
CAA does not operate as a scale driven social platform, but as an artistic network built on long term trust and professional understanding. Through continuous offline gatherings and curatorial projects, members enter a relatively stable artistic environment in which relationships are developed through repeated interaction and collaboration.
This network does not prioritise immediate outcomes, but encourages artists, curators, and cultural practitioners to engage in dialogue within natural and thoughtful settings. CAA places greater value on the depth and quality of exchange than on surface level networking frequency. We believe that meaningful artistic relationships emerge from sustained understanding and shared cultural positions.
Within CAA’s activities and projects, artists have the opportunity to connect with peers, curators, and collectors from diverse backgrounds. These relationships are not transactional exchanges of contacts, but trust based connections formed gradually through continued participation. CAA seeks to provide artists with a stable and reliable social and cultural support structure for long term development.
CAA maintains long standing and stable working relationships with a wide range of leading contemporary art media outlets and art magazines across the UK and Europe. These relationships are built on years of curatorial practice, academic exchange, and professional trust, rather than one off publicity arrangements.
Through exhibitions curated and produced by CAA, participating artists and their works may receive coverage and attention from mainstream art media, including online platforms, print publications, and professional critical channels. CAA is committed to ensuring that exhibitions are presented within a professional and critical context, rather than limited to short lived visibility on social media.
For artist members, this provides the opportunity for their work to enter a broader international art discourse and to be seen by curators, critics, and collector groups, contributing to the development of long term and meaningful professional influence.
As a CAA member, artists will have a dedicated personal page on the Contemporary Art Asia official website. This page serves as a long term presentation platform, showcasing the artist’s background, statement, representative works, and records of exhibitions and projects associated with CAA.
The page is structured around the artist’s practice and development, enabling viewers, curators, and professionals to understand the artist’s direction and trajectory within a clear context. Artists may update works and exhibition information over time, allowing the page to function as a stable, citable professional archive rather than a one off promotional profile.
Through this digital presentation, CAA aims to provide artist members with a long term and effective online presence, ensuring their practice can continue to be seen, understood, and discussed within an international context.
CAA welcomes Asian contemporary artists working in the UK, as well as emerging practitioners who are in the process of establishing their own artistic trajectory. We look for members who demonstrate an open attitude towards dialogue and who are willing to engage in long term artistic exchange and professional interaction.
CAA is intended for contemporary artists with a clear creative awareness and a commitment to sustained artistic practice. We do not prioritise any specific style or medium. Instead, we focus on whether an artist is working within a contemporary artistic context and is able to respond, through their work, to cultural, social, or conceptual conditions relevant to their practice.
We place particular emphasis on the conceptual structure, research process, and creative logic underpinning the work, rather than on formal completion alone. Whether working in painting, installation, moving image, sculpture, or cross media practice, artists whose positions are clearly articulated and whose work can be understood and discussed within a contemporary context align with the direction of CAA.
Please note that as all CAA artist talks and discussions are conducted in English, applicants are required to have sufficient English communication skills.

CAA Membership operates on an annual basis. The membership fee is £360 per year. Membership becomes effective upon confirmation and is valid for a period of twelve months.
The membership fee supports the long term operation of the CAA platform, including curatorial planning, the ongoing organisation of art salons, and the maintenance of the artist network and content systems. The membership fee does not constitute payment for events or exhibitions, but contributes to the development of a stable and sustainable artistic platform.
Please note that the following costs are not included in the annual membership fee:
Membership grants the right to apply for and participate in CAA projects, but does not automatically include exhibition places or event tickets. All exhibitions are subject to curatorial selection in order to maintain overall artistic quality and professional standards.
CAA is committed to transparency and clarity in its fee structure. Any additional costs will be communicated in advance, ensuring that members are able to make informed decisions.
